19 dead, 65 hurt in HK bus crash


Hong Kong Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tai Po on Saturday, in which 15 men and four women died, while 62 men and three women were injured.
At about 6:15 pm on Saturday, a bus driven by a 30-year-old man was travelling along Tai Po Road – Tai Po Kau towards Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong, said a press release issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government early Sunday morning.
When approaching near Tai Po Mei, it reportedly lost control and side-turned.
In the accident, 14 men and four women were certified dead at scene. 63 men and three women were injured and sent to various hospitals for medical treatment in which one man was later certified dead in hospital.
The 30-year old male bus driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm. He is still being detained for further enquiries.
Investigation by the Regional Crime Unit, New Territories North is underway.
