Premier Li holds talks with US business representatives

Premier Li Keqiang met with representatives of enterprises from the United States who came to attend the US-China Business Exchange on Sept 10 in Beijing. They exchanged ideas over bilateral economic and trade relations, among other issues.

Premier Li said this year marks the 40th anniversary of China-US diplomatic ties. Over the years, economic and trade relations have progressed and achieved win-win results. As the biggest developing country and developed country in the world, China and the US share a lot of interests, he said.

According to consensus reached between heads of the two countries, China and the US should find solutions to disagreements, seek common ground while reserving differences with principles of equality and mutual respect kept in mind, the Premier said.

China will open up wider and is committed to a market-oriented, law-based and international business environment, Premier Li said, adding domestic and foreign-funded enterprises in China will be treated equally with enhanced intellectual property protection.

He also said China has fully liberalized its manufacturing sector, and the opening-up of its service sector is also accelerating.

“There is a broad market in China, and we welcome enterprises from all over the world, including the United States, to expand economic and trade investment in China for win-win results,” Premier Li noted.

After sending their congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, US representatives said American enterprises have participated in and witnessed the development of US-China relations while developing business and expanding investment in China for long-term partnerships.

They also said American enterprises are encouraged by China’s new measures to promote further opening-up and will treat the current US-China economic and trade frictions from a long-term view and oppose any measures that weaken economic ties between US and China.

They hoped trade talks between the two countries will make progress and reach an agreement as soon as possible.

“The two sides will definitely find a way to keep the US-China relationship moving forward,” they said.
