The protracted campaign of violence and destruction waged by anti-government rioters is making life increasingly difficult for the people of Hong Kong. More and more are coming forward to share their frustrations and tell stories of their hardship. And they have a shared goal: a safe and peaceful Hong Kong.
Grenville Cross, Hong Kong's former director of public prosecutions, described the anti-mask law as "an important step in the right direction" in deterring people from indulging in wanton criminality on the city's streets.
Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai, former president of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, said that the city has been in the throes of violence for months and is in dire need of an anti-mask law.

Allan Zeman, chairman of the Hong Kong-based Lan Kwai Fong Group, supports the introduction of a law banning masks at public assemblies in Hong Kong. Law and order has broken down, and the situation warrants drastic measures, he said. Such a ban will be a viable step to help Hong Kong curb escalating violence.
An advocate group was formed on Thursday to urge the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government to ban face masks in unauthorized rallies in an effort to cool the months-long unrest in Hong Kong.
In 1953, China's first Five-Year Plan called the entire nation to unite and actively participate in the industrialization drive. During Mao Zedong's first trip to the Soviet Union, he visited the Stalin Automobile Factory. Seeing an assembly line of new cars, he said to his entourage: "We need big factories like this one."
