Benfica midfielder Armando Petit will receive a knee surgery on Tuesday which is to put him out of action for a month, the Portuguese club said on its website.

The Portuguese international midfielder injured his left knee during his side's UEFA Cup match against Norway's Molde on Thursday.

Petit will miss Portugal's friendlies against Greece on Saturday and Kuwait on November 19 as the squad is preparing for the 2004 European Championships.

As hosts, Portugal automatically qualify for the finals.
