Chang Hsi-ming, a suspect of kidnapping several wealthy businessmen, receives
treatment after a fierce shootout with the police in Taichung, about 150
kilometres south of Taipei July 13, 2005. Police broke into a house where Chang
had been hiding and arrested him along with alleged accomplice, Lin Tai-heng.
Police suspect Chang of extorting US$8.8 million in 10 kidnapping cases over
