在美國(guó)讀書，很多來(lái)自非英語(yǔ)國(guó)家的同學(xué)都會(huì)選修ESL（English as Second Language），即第二語(yǔ)言英語(yǔ)。課程結(jié)束前的一個(gè)禮拜，老師沿襲舊例，在他家舉行結(jié)業(yè)聚會(huì)。同學(xué)們帶著本國(guó)風(fēng)味的食物來(lái)參加聚會(huì)。老師更是趁機(jī)讓我們用英語(yǔ)介紹食物的配料和烹制方法。輪到我時(shí)，老師突然改變?cè)掝}，要我談?wù)剬?duì)ESL這門課的看法。他問(wèn)：“How do you like it, so far?”
我先是一愣，接著反問(wèn)他: "Your sofa is made in Italy, isn't it?" (你們家的沙發(fā)（Sofa）是意大利制造的，對(duì)不對(duì)?) 話剛說(shuō)完，已惹得大家哄堂大笑。（摘自《世界日?qǐng)?bào)》和信）
