當(dāng)?shù)貢r(shí)間10月8日上午9點(diǎn)左右，南亞次大陸發(fā)生里氏7.6級(jí)地震，包括印度、巴基斯坦、阿富汗等國(guó)家都有強(qiáng)烈震感，截至9日凌晨共有3000多人死亡。巴基斯坦北部山區(qū)是重災(zāi)區(qū)。外電報(bào)道如下：
The casualty toll from the 7.6-magnitude tremor was rising early Sunday
as rescuers struggled to dig people from the wreckage, their work made
more difficult as rain and hail turned dirt and debris into sticky muck.
For hours, aftershocks rattled an area
stretching from Afghanistan across northern Pakistan into India's portion
of the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir. Hospitals moved quake victims
onto lawns, fearing tremors could cause more damage.
