各地高校也積極開展防騙警示教育，防詐騙成了多所高校新生入學的"第一課"。據報道，江蘇省東南大學的新生要參加安全知識考試(safety knowledge examination)，其中有60%的題目都跟電信詐騙有關；上海公安局派出民警在復旦大學迎新現場擺攤設點進行防詐騙宣傳。此外，有的高校為學生發放《大學新生安全手冊》(a handbook on safety for new entrants)，普及防詐騙和網絡借貸(peer-to-peer lending/P2P lending)相關知識；還有高校在校園里懸掛防詐騙橫幅和海報(anti-fraud banners and posters)，邀請當地公安民警進校園開展安全教育講座(give safety lectures)，在微信公眾平臺開設防詐騙專欄(set up a special column to promote anti-fraud awareness)等。

全國多地警方統計顯示，大學生群體已成為電信詐騙受害"重災區"。去年6月，北京市公安局對外通報，2015年前4個月，北京高校日均發生電信詐騙案件2.9起。一些辦案者和教育工作者指出，個人信息泄露(personal information leaks)、容易受到誘惑(fall into temptation easily)、社會經驗不足(lack of social experience)和防騙教育(anti-fraud education)缺失，是大學生頻頻被不法分子盯上的關鍵原因。
