A draft regulation on the protection of employed women was reviewed and approved in principle Wednesday in a State Council executive meeting presided over by Premier Wen Jiabao, xinhuanet.com reported. The draft amends the list of prohibited tasks for women. It also prolongs the maternity leave for the nation's working mothers from 90 days to 98 days and formulates the corresponding treatment.
據新華網報道，國務院總理溫家寶18日主持召開國務院常務會議，會議審議并原則通過《女職工勞動保護特別規定(草案)》。草案調整了女職工禁忌從事的勞動范圍，將女職工生育享受的產假由90天延長至98天，并規范了產假待遇。

嬰幼兒奶粉禁添牛初乳
Bovine colostrums (牛初乳) is forbidden to be used in baby formula, according to a notice released Wednesday by the Ministry of Health, xinhuanet.com reported. Any dairy formula, which is made from bovine colostrum, is prohibited for infants. The regulation will take effect on Sept 1. Bovine colostrum is the milk produced by cows during the first 7 days after giving birth to calves.
據新華網報道，衛生部18日發布通知稱，嬰幼兒配方食品中不得添加牛初乳以及用牛初乳為原料生產的乳制品。該規定自9月1日起執行。牛初乳是健康奶牛產犢后7日內的乳汁。

運動隊'斷肉'引奧運擔憂
Chinese athletes are in an awkward situation with the Olympics due to begin in just 100 days. They dare not eat meat. 196 athletes under the administration of the National Aquatics Center have been stopped from eating meat for 40 days, according to officials, Yangtse Evening News reported Wednesday. The athletes are relying on protein powder and hairtail fish for their protein supply.
距離奧運僅剩100天，中國運動員卻集體陷入了不敢吃肉的尷尬境地。據《揚子晚報》18日報道，相關負責人日前透露，水上運動中心在各地的196名運動員已經"斷肉"40天，只能靠蛋白粉和帶魚補充蛋白質。
--The General Administration of Sports announced the meat ban on Jan 19 after worries about clenbuterol(瘦肉精). Athletes are not allowed to eat pork, beef and mutton outside their training bases, which will stop serving meat dishes as well if the sources of the raw meat are not proven to be safe.

Two freshmen at Hubei University of Education, Zhao Xiaofang and Zou Junjie, have started a business offering their time for a fee, Wuhan Evening News reported. Their services cover the problems their schoolmates may have in campus life, such as purchasing clothes, taking detailed notes when absent from class as well as declaring a secret love, according to their ads. They have already received 6 orders, with fees ranging from RMB2 to RMB10 per hour. The confession charge is RMB5 per hour.
據《武漢晚報》報道，湖北第二師范學院大一學生趙曉芳和鄒俊杰公開出售自己的時間。她們貼出的廣告單顯示，待售時間內的業務范圍包括幫忙選購衣服、代記課堂筆記、代向心儀者表白等校園常見問題。目前，她們已接了6筆生意，收取服務費每小時2-10元不等。據悉，代表白的收費標準是每小時5元。

The other 5 are: world's top tennis player Novak Djokovic, Barcelona striker Lionel Messi, South African amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorious, American football player Tim Tebow, and Yani Tseng, a women's golf player from Taiwan.

>Indonesia bans ore shipments
印尼將禁出口金屬礦石
Indonesia, Southeast Asia's largest economy, will proceed with a plan to ban exports of unprocessed metal ores(鐵礦石), including bauxite(鋁土礦), from next month, while confirming an exemption for producers that intend to treat output locally, Bloomberg reported. The largest nickel-ore (鎳礦石) and bauxite supplier to China announced the prohibition in February, 2 years ahead of schedule, to increase the value of its shipments. The Indonesian Mining Association estimated last month that the ban will cut nickel-ore and bauxite exports by as much as 75% this year.

A Taliban commander has been captured after marching up to a checkpoint in Afghan brandishing a wanted poster with his own face and demanding the $100 reward for his own arrest, The Daily Telegraph of London reported Wednesday. Mohammad Ashan was wanted for organizing attacks on Afghan troops. Afghan Police called for American backup to check they had the right man. "Is this you?" a US soldier asked. Mohammad Ashan answered with an incredible amount of enthusiasm, "Yes, yes, that's me! Can I get my reward now?" US forces confirmed his identity using a biometric scan.

Bo, the US' "First Pup", is being used to raise money for the reelection campaign of his owner, President Obama, The Washington Examiner reported. Bo is featured on the campaign website because it is the 3rd anniversary of his adoption. "Throw Bo A Bone on His Anniversary," says the campaign website. Of course, that "bone" would be a campaign contribution, starting at $10. Cute for sure, but not everybody's wagging their tail over what is the first use of a presidential pet to raise campaign cash. "That's like raffling the dog or auctioning the pet. The parrot chick Nelson, who must surely be a contender for the ugliest bird in the world, was rejected by his parents after he hatched, the Daily Mail of London reported. Nelson has been described as looking like a cross between an alien and a roast chicken. He was born last month at a zoo in Germany. He was the only one of 3 eggs laid by his mother to survive and hatch, but was promptly rejected by his parents.(See photo)
