More than 420 tons of tainted Dumex milk formula has made its way into the market, Xinhua reported. The problematic milk powders were yanked from retail shelves in Shanghai Sunday afternoon, after allegations that they were made from contaminated dairy products by New Zealand dairy company Fonterra. Also on Sunday, Coca-Cola (China) confirmed to have used 25 kg of tainted Fonterra dairy products to produce certain batches of Meizhiyuan Fruit Milk beverage. The company said it has initiated recall measures.
據新華社報道，由新西蘭恒天然集團受污染乳粉制成的多美滋奶粉流入市場達420多噸，4日下午上海賣場已開始下架多美滋涉事產品。當天，可口可樂(中國)確認，有25公斤恒天然問題乳粉已用于生產個別批次的美汁源果粒奶優，已實施召回。

China has stopped the import of all New Zealand milk powder, The New Zealand Herald reported. Furthermore, Russia has made one of the most extreme responses to Fonterra's contamination scare so far and banned all goods made by Fonterra, even though it was not on the list of affected countries that included New Zealand, Australia, China, Vietnam and Thailand.

China's consumer quality watchdog Sunday named 4 importers, including Wahaha and Dumex, of selling potentially tainted products from New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra. The move came after Fonterra said Friday that some of its whey (乳清) protein (蛋白) produced in May 2012 was found to be contaminated with clostridium botulinum (肉毒桿菌).
新西蘭乳業巨頭恒天然公司2日發布消息，稱該公司2012年5月生產的部分乳清蛋白粉中檢出肉毒桿菌。國家質檢總局4日稱，包括娃哈哈、多美滋在內的4家企業進口并銷售可能受到肉毒桿菌污染的新西蘭恒天然集團產品。

Dead pigs were found floating in the Yangtze River Saturday. Dozens of rotten pig carcasses (獸尸) were discovered floating down the river in Yichang, Hubei, exuding a nasty smell, CRI Online reported. Villagers said that dead pigs started to appear in the river a week ago, likely the result of night dumping by unscrupulous (不講道德的) farmers.
據國際在線報道，長江水域3日出現漂浮死豬。數十頭已腐爛的死豬漂浮在位于湖北宜昌的長江水域，沿江面順流而下，散發著難聞的氣味。據村民講，從一星期前這段江面就有不少死豬漂浮，可能是無良養殖戶乘夜晚拋尸所致。

The Obama administration has vetoed a US trade panel's ban on the sale of some older iPhones and iPads, reversing a ruling that had favored Samsung Electronics, Reuters reported. The action marks the first time since 1987 that a presidential administration has overturned an import ban ordered by the US International Trade Commission. US Trade Representative Michael Froman said the decision was in part based on its "effect on competitive conditions in the US economy and the effect on US consumers". Samsung said it was "disappointed" by the veto.

A study from DataGenetics analyzing 3.4m 4-digit codes found that many of the high-frequency PINs could be interpreted as years of birth because many began with 19, making it easier for hackers to decode. The majority of PINs began with the number 1. The numbers 0 and 2 are also popular. As many as 1 in 6 people use their pet's name as a password.

Male mammals aren't monogamous (一夫一妻的) in order to produce healthier offspring, according to new research. Instead they remain loyal for love, the Daily Mail of London reported. After an in-depth study into the behavior of over 2,500 species of mammals, researchers from Cambridge University found the main reason a male will choose a lifelong partner is to protect her from harm. In addition, they do this also because suitable mates are rare.
