The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday responded briefly to the United States Senate's confirmation of the next US ambassador to China, saying that China's position "has been consistent and clear" on its ties with the US and on economic and trade issues.
The US Senate on Tuesday confirmed former senator David Perdue as next US ambassador to China.
Perdue was a Republican senator from Georgia from 2015 to 2021 and previously lived in Hong Kong during a 40-year career as an international business executive.
"On China-US relations, as well as economic and trade issues, China's position has been consistent and clear," Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said in a brief comment at a regular press conference in Beijing.
