Guangdong-Hainan railways restart post-Typhoon Wipha


Train services in western Guangdong province and Hainan province gradually resumed starting from Monday at noon, as Typhoon Wipha moved outside both provinces, according to local railway operators.
High-speed train services between Shenzhen and Zhanjiang, Guangdong, resumed at noon. The western section of the high-speed railway service in Hainan resumed from 7:30 pm on Monday, China Railway Guangzhou Group said.
Typhoon Wipha made its second landfall near Hailing Island in Yangjiang, Guangdong, at around 8:15 pm on Sunday as a strong tropical storm bringing a maximum wind speed of 25 meters per second near its center, the provincial meteorological observatory said.
Wipha moved into the Beibu Gulf on Monday morning, with its intensity forecast to strengthen once again, the meteorological observatory said.
Heavy to torrential rains are expected in parts of eastern and southwestern Guangdong, with extremely heavy rainfall predicted in the Leizhou Peninsula and the central-western and northern areas of Hainan.
